A la defensiva de tercero y cuarto equipo el jueves les movieron el balón, aunque en realidad los Raiders sentenciaron el partido con una intercepción al cuarto mariscal de campo, el novato Matt Nichols, a quien con dos entregas de balón sus posibilidades de quedarse se convirtieron en casi nulas. Los Cowboys perdieron y sufrieron una lesión más, la torcedura de cuello de su profundo Mike Hamlin, quien el año pasado perdió seis partidos por una fractura en la muñeca en su segundo juego de pretemporada. El mariscal de campo Tony Romo terminó con un golpe en el cuello, que sufrió en la segunda de dos capturas en el primer cuarto. "Me siento bien, no creo que sea problema", dijo al final del partido. "Fue sólo el golpe". Para Dallas, la pretemporada ha sido costosa, trece jugadores estuvieron desactivados por lesión el jueves.
